read & play. An Introduction to Typography
The book "Read & Play" is a guide through the jungle of professional know-how. It wants to give an orientation about which areas of typography are particulary relevant and which books/publications/links provide additional help.
Read & Play has three chapters:
Chapter A deals with the intertwined relationships between typography, communication, culture and society. Chapter B addresses basic questions of typography. In chapter C, teachers of the University of Applied Sciences in Mainz discuss various questions arising in the book. Chapter C also contains brief descriptions of the recommended publications and other links and references. This reader addresses both students and graduates.
